networking

As a Networking instructor my objective is to provide TechFutures students with a skill set applicable for positions as Network Administrators and Desktop Support staff. My broader goal is to help students develop as problem solvers, and understand how to ask the questions which lead to constructive solutions and ongoing learning.

TechFutures is the 3rd chapter my career in education. I first worked for several years as a wilderness instructor in Wyoming and Virginia, teaching youth and adults backpacking, mountaineering, ecology, and environmental conservation. I earned my BS in Geology at Virginia Tech and obtained a Secondary Science teaching credential in 1985. After moving to Berkeley I taught Earth Science and Chemistry at Berkeley H.S. for 7 years. It was there I developed an interest in computer technology. I moved to the private sector and worked at the Network Administrator several Bay Area firms. Now I am happy combining my two career interests here at TechFutures.

Born in Chicago, raised in New Jersey, I have lived in Berkeley for about 16 years with my wife and 2 children. If I'm not puttering around the house, you'll find me on my bicycle taking long rides through the East Bay hills.
